Glitter Shower Jelly

glitter shower jelly

Well, these glitter shower jellies are all of the rage!  It seems like we can't get enough of Lush Bath Products DIY.....so here's another fun idea!  Here is the original Shower Jelly recipe that you all have loved!

Lush has a great reputation for having cleverly marketed products, great packaging ideas, and strongly scented body items with some basically natural products. So naturally they make trendy, fun & easy homemade gift ideas!

Plus, who doesn't want to fill their bathtub with lush bath products?

You can find more Valentine Gift Ideas here!

Shower Jelly is one of the Lush Bath Products that many DIYer's have tried to duplicate. With the consistency of hard jello, this is super sudsy and fun (especially for the kids!)

True, it's like showering with slippery, sudsy jello... but it's worth trying. You can make this product super cheap and it's a great easy homemade gift idea for kids. You can just use inexpensive, scented shampoo like Suave, and some simple fragrances from a local hobby store, or use a nice castile soap and one of your favorite essential oils recipes!

The official Lush Shower Jellies are packaged in jelly jars so you can scoop out the portions that you like. I used a small silicone brownie pan to keep them individualized! Either way, it's a kick!

For this sparkly girly treat, I used this heart shaped silicone pan.  It was meant for cupcakes but this has less calories!

Lush Shower Jellies diy Recipe

  • 2 packages of unflavored gelatin
  • 3/4 C boiling water
  • 1/2 C shampoo, shower gel or castile soap
  • 30 drops-essential or fragrance oils
  • Mica Soap Colors if desired
  • 1 tsp salt
  • Desired molds. Silicone molds, square mold, shallow fun shaped molds or muffin tin molds.
  • body safe glitter if desired
  • Prepare the molds for your shower jelly. Place them onto a cutting board or cookie sheet to make them easier to move. Sprinkle body safe glitter lightly onto the molds, if you like.
  • Pour the packets of gelatin into the boiling water. Stir completely using a wire whisk until the gelatin is dissolved.
  • Add the shampoo and the essential oil or fragrance oil and one or two drops of body safe coloring, if desired. Stir gently.

I use colored micas meant for soaps and that's what I would recommend if it's available. If all you have is food coloring, that will work too.

  • Stir in the salt and pour into desired molds.
  • There will be air bubbles so spritz them with a bit of alcohol.
  • Place in refrigerator uncovered.

After your shower jellies have hardened go jump in the shower and try them out! They will stay longer and fresher if kept in a cool, dry place.

I don't store them in the shower as I don't think that water seeping into the jar would be very helpful!

I hope you enjoy this Glitter Shower Jelly as much as I do! In an attempt to attempt to create this luscious treat, I followed the essential oils that Lush uses in their Happy Hippy Scent.

Grapefruit Essential Oil

Bergamot Essential Oil

Frankincense Essential Oil
