A few weeks ago I decided to learn how to make dog food. My dog's skin sometimes gets dry and itchy and I wonder about commercial dog foods. (I know there are plenty of good ones but I like to try to do things, you know...homemade). After much perusing the internet and analyzing the various dog food recipes, I found a few that I liked and compiled them together. Then I added some of my own ideas and voila! Poppy loves her new, homemade dog food and I feel great feeding it to her.
This recipe is easy to make and smells and tastes delicious! Yes, it's people food for dogs and I love serving it as much as Poppy loves eating it.
How To Make Dog Food
6 Cups of Water
1 pound of Ground Beef (may use turkey if desired)
2 Cups Brown Rice-not Minute Rice
1 T Rosemary
3 Cups of Frozen Green Beans, Peas and/or Carrots
Rosemary is rich in vitamins, high in fiber and an anti-inflammatory. It's a wonderful spice to add to your homemade dog food and adds tremendous benefits.
You can use fresh or dried rosemary.
I like to add whatever leftovers that I have in the refrigerator that are safe and healthy dog treats. Whether it's a ripe banana, a couple of apples or some leftover pumpkin or squash, it just adds some extra vitamins for dogs and a variety of tastes to her taste buds.
